Newly Diagnosed

People who have recently been diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) often have questions about the disease, the prognosis and the treatments available.  There are also concerns about insurance, finding a CML specialist, how and when is it okay to ask the doctor questions and how to find emotional support for the patient and his or her family members. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has information and support services available, at no cost, to assist newly diagnosed CML patients and their families. In addition to the information provided in this section, visit the Newly Diagnosed section for information about support services.

You may also contact LLS`s Information Resource Center (IRC) at (800) 955-4572 to speak one-on-one with a CML information specialist (specially trained social workers, nurses and health educators), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. ET, or leave a voice mail message and your call will be returned within one business day.

You may also email your questions to the IRC. We invite you to use the Chapter Finder for the patient services staff contact information in your area to learn about local CML programs and services.
